Book Cover: - Tidal by Josh Kalscheur

Winner of the Four Way Books Levis Prize in Poetry

Tidal focuses on Chuuk State, a group of islands that are a part of the Federated States of Micronesia. This focus encompasses Micronesia’s morality, its taboos and myths,
and how information and stories disseminate between villages, social groups, ethnicities, classes, and genders. Using persona, these poems explore and challenge the idea of witness.

Stop Shark

Gunther Deichmann donated one of his images (right hand side) in support for Oceana's Campaign
"Protect Sharks, Not Shark Finners" - previously a very similar image became photo of the week
in Stern Magazine (Germany) followed by Muy Interesante Magazine, Portugal and Spain as double pages.
Other articles of the same nature followed and where published world wide by the Media.

WASHINGTON D.C, USA – Today, Oceana launched a new advertising campaign in the Washington, D.C. Metro system that asks the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to “Protect Sharks, Not Shark Finners.”

Earlier this year, NOAA chose to challenge state shark fin bans across the country, suggesting that they might be preempted by federal law. Oceana’s ads, which now appear on the platform of the Silver Spring Metro station (home to NOAA’s offices), read “NOAA: WHOSE SIDE ARE YOU ON? Don’t interfere with state shark fin bans. PROTECT SHARKS, NOT SHARK FINNERS!”

For more information about Oceana’s campaign to save sharks, please visit www.oceana.org/sharksnotfinners.

Oceana is the largest international advocacy group working solely to protect the world’s oceans. Oceana wins policy victories for the oceans using science-based campaigns. Since 2001, we have protected over 1.2 million square miles of ocean and innumerable sea turtles, sharks, dolphins and other sea creatures. More than 600,000 supporters have already joined Oceana. Global in scope, Oceana has offices in North, South and Central America and Europe. To learn more, please visit www.oceana.org.
